The Police administration has announced its readiness to crack down activities of criminals ahead of the festive season, December.
At the launch of a rigorous exercise code-named “Operation Father Christmas” which is to be rolled out countrywide, the Director General/CID, COP Prosper Kwame Agblor underscored the relevance of such operations towards the Christmas season, adding that “during festive periods, crime rate as well as the spate of road accidents go up….as such the service undertakes such operations to ensure that criminals do not have a field day and that the public celebrate the season in peace and tranquility.”
He said the Police administration in the bid to tighten security during the yuletide has put some measures in place to ensure that law and order is maintained.
COP Agblor called for cooperation from the public, saying the overall object of the move by the Police is for Ghanaians to celebrate the festivities devoid of crime and any untoward activities.
It however asked the public never to hesitate to contact a toll free Police emergency line 191 or 18555 for VODAFONE and MTN to alert them on criminal activities.
