Andre Ayew shortlisted for Lion d’Or African Best Player Award

Ghana star Andre Ayew has been named in a 10-man shortlist for the 2015 Lion dOr announced by the renowned Moroccan newspaper Al Mountakhab.

The newspaper aggregates votes to install the best African Player and has been doing that since 2004.

Ayew faces stern competition from holder Yaya Toure of Manchester City who will be seeking a third straight title.

Others on the list are Algerias Yassine Ibrahimi, Medhi Benatia, Mohamed Salah and Aymen Abdennour.

The rest are Riyad Mahrez, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gervais Yao Kouassi and Serge Aurier.

Ivory Coast star Didier Drogba holds the Golden Lion record. He won 4 times before Samuel Eto’o who was awarded 3 times.
