Odekro apologises to Adwoa Safo over worst MP report

The researchers who ranked MPs of the 6th Parliament on their performance in the chamber have apologised to the Deputy Majority leader Sarah Adwoa Safo for wrongly rating her in their latest report.

According to Odekro, even though their database captures the accurate rating of the Dome-Kwabenya MP, their fact sheet released to the media, had errors which included her in the list of non-performing lawmakers.

The fact sheet placed the Dome MP in the same category with the Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyepong as among the worst performing 50 MPs in the 6th parliament.

The report however projected MP for Old Tafo, Anthony Akoto Osei as the overall best MP with a total score of 94.12%. James Klutse Avedzi 93.39%; Joseph Yieleh Chirech 92.21%; Papa Owusu-Ankomah 92.17%; and Alexander Afenyo-Markin 91.03% followed in that order.

The worst performer in the Sixth Parliament is Evans Paul Aidoo who scored 11.50%; Queenstar Pokua Sawyerr 16.98%; Dr. Nii Oakley Quaye-Kumah 17.09%; Ken Ohene Agyapong 18.29%; Dr. Mustapha Ahmed 18.60%.

But speaking to StarrFMonline.com Wednesday, a member of Odekro, a transparency organization with focus on proceedings in Ghana’s Parliament,  Kinna Likimani said they erred and have apologised to the MP.

“We erred, and we are apologetic for this error. In fact the mistake was contained in our factsheet but our database has her figures which actually records her as the most performing female MP in the last parliament.  We have apologised to her and we hope the mistake is corrected.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Madam Adwoa Safo ranked 58th in the Sixth Parliament with a contribution score of 52.02/60 and an attendance score of 24.13/40, totaling 76.15 percent,” she noted.
