MTN FA CUP COMMITTEE MEMBER KOFI POKU

Organizers of the MTN FA Cup have disclosed they are spoilt for choice in choosing a venue for the grand finale of the competition.

The MTN FA Cup Final has been one of the iconic events held in the country in recent times and key persons have already started lobbying to host this year’s showpiece.

Over the past three seasons, the MTN FA Cup Final has received a lot of mileage and attention. The last two finals have been a spectacle one cannot afford to forget particularly the final between Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko 2 years ago.

The Organizers have managed to create some sort of euphoria and excitement about the event and FA Cup Committee member Kojo Poku has disclosed that a lot people across the country are lobbying for the final to be played in their region.

In an exclusive interview with EMPIRE SPORTS, He said “There a lot of things we need to take into consideration before we choose the venue for the final, so we are doing a few consultations to see where it will go”

“People are lobbying; we have been getting calls from a lot people especially Tamale” he added.

Kojo Poku also added the Organizing Committee would not push for a Hearts Of Oak and Kotoko final should Kotoko make it to the last four.

The Super Clash with all its history and marketing advantages would have been the ideal final for a lot of fans and for the Organizers as well.

However, Kojo Poku said the Organizing Committee would wish for the best teams to make it to the final rather than favouring the two big clubs in the country to get to the final.

He said “Honestly, if you witnessed the two finals we have played it was without Hearts and Kotoko and we have been able to do things right”.

“For us as committee, if we are able to get those two in the final, Alleluia! We are committed to the cause and once we get to know the sides that make it to the final irrespective of where they come from, we will organize a good final.” He added.

The MTN FA Cup Organizing Committee will have a meeting on Tuesday August 1 to decide which venues will host both semi-final clashes and as well decide when the semi-final draw will take place.
