Commercial activities in and around Edzii GOIL Filling Station, a popular filling station in Takoradi risk being closed down by the industry regulator the National Petroleum Authority (NPA)
According to a letter intercepted by Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene Gyan written by Mr. Alhassan S Tampuli, Chief Executive for NPA.
Officials of NPA in the company of its CEO who visited the facility on July 18 this year revealed unacceptable practices within the facility.
Mr Alhassan Tampuli could not believe when he saw drivers and mates walking freely in the facility scouting for passengers while others had their broken down vehicles unattended to with their mechanical tools lying down around.
Ohene Gyan also reported NPA officials observed a kitchen was close to a tank farm and an LPG facility, which according to NPA poses a threat to public health and safety.
GOIL and Edzii filling station have two weeks to evacuate the recalcitrant commercial drivers or risk being closed down.
Empire News checks at the western regional zonal office revealed several letters have been written to the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly to help evict the commercials but did not see the light of day due to lack of political will.
GOIL who later managed to secure some police personnel to evict the recalcitrant commercial drivers ended up taking bribes from them.
