The former Ghana international Sam Johnson has named Mohammed Ahmed ‘Polo’ as the best ever player he’s seen in the strips of Accra Hearts of Oak.

Sam Johnson, who also played for the club between 1991 & 1996, staunchly believes, of the numerous greats to don the rainbow colours of Hearts of Oak, Polo stands tall.

Johnson made this disclosure in an interview with Takoradi based Empire FM on their Sports World Show.

The 44 year old said “those (the players) that I knew or I see them playing, then I can choose Polo”. [Sic]

“All the big ones that come before Polo, I don’t know them and I’ve never see them playing before”. [Sic]

Sam Johnson who also had a successful career outside Ghana for clubs in Turkey explained further on what secerns Mohammed Polo from the others.

Johnson told Empire Sports “You know I played together with Polo, and even when he was old, we know when we are playing we play 10 against 11, but as soon as Polo gets the ball, you are playing maybe 13 against 11”. [Sic]

“That is the difference between Polo and every over player I Know” he furthered. [Sic]

Sam Johnson who won over 40 caps for Ghana spoke at length about the state of Accra Hearts of Oak now as well as some fondest memories he harbors concerning Ghana’s oldest existing club.

Hearts of Oak formed on November 11, 1911 marked their 106th anniversary on Saturday November 11, 2017.

Despite their successful past, the club has been chasing domestic and continental glory since 2009 and 2004 respectively.
