Ghanaian Youth especially are been warned to be circumspect of their lifestyles as
poor lifestyle is contributing to the increasing number of diabetes cases in the
country with many suffering irreparable damages such as amputation of body
The doctors explain that what makes the case worse is the fact the disease is
becoming rife among children and the youth. They blame poor lifestyles such as excessive alcohol intake, excessive sugar intake, poor eating habit and the lack of exercise among others as the reasons behind the high rate of diabetes cases among the youth.
Speaking to Empire News on the occasion of today's celebration of World diabetes
day which is on the theme "Women and diabetes; our right to a healthy future " the doctors explained that the lives of the future generation is at risk if measures are
not taken to curtail the increasing rate of the disease among the Ghanaians
especially children and the youth.
The consequences of the disease the doctors say are dire necessitating urgent
action to forestall consequences like blindness , kidney failure , sexual
malfunction just to mention but a few .
