A Takoradi Boligantanga bound STC Scania Marcapolo bus with registration number GE- 5187-16 was involved in an accident at Amoma Nkwanta in the Brong Ahafo Region last night.
Police in Jaman who were called to the scene of the accident at about 6: 45 pm say the STC Bus travelling from Takoradi to Bolgatanga, had information on reaching Kintampo that the Buipe bridge has been closed to traffic and so had to divert through Techiman, while descending a slope on a section of the road at Amoma Nkwanta the STC bus is said to have hit the rear of a Mercedes articulated truck moving in the same direction. The 32 passengers on board the STC bus are said to have sustained various degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Jema government hospital, the Kintampo Municipal Hospital and Techiman Holy Family Hospital.
Two persons on board the bus who are yet to be identified died on the spot. The bus’s police escort one Frank Dogbe also sustained serious injuries and is on admission at the Holy family hospital in Techiman. The suspect driver in charge of the m/benz truck is currently at large.
