A new breeze of golfing competition is set to hit the Nsuta Golf Club in the Western Region on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
The competition dubbed ‘Captain1 Golf Society Invitational Tournament’ would have its debut tee-off with over 50 professional and amateur golfers across the country participating.
Up for grabs is a whooping US$1,000 and US$500 for what would be termed the ‘Mystery Partner’ Captain’s prize.
According to the originator of the event and leader of Captain1 Golf Society, Mr Pius Ayeh Appiah, the one-day competition would have golfers playing 36-holes.
He said the competition is aimed at giving golfers an avenue to exercise after the holidays.
He explained that serious golfing in the country is usually done from February therefore this competition would serve as a platform for golfers to sweat out all the junk foods and parties while preparing for the golf season.
He added that the competition would also serve as a platform for golfers to mingle and socialise as amateurs would be paired with professionals which would create a platform for learning for both groups.
Mr Appiah who is the former captain of the Damang Golf Club also mentioned that the competition would be an annual tournament with an official launch in 2019.
He said after the official launch in 2019, there would be two competitions; the invitational tournament and the Inter-Clubs Junior Competitions which would be preceded with a golf clinic.
He stated that qualification for joining the society would be opened after the maiden edition.
