FISHERMEN TO KICK AGAINST ANY MOVE TO EXTEND THE SAFE SEA ACCESS ZONE

Fishermen in the Western Region are vowing to kick against any move to extend the demarcated 500metre safety zone around the Floating Production Storage Offshore vessels in the marine waters of the Western Region.
Speaking to Empire News on the sidelines of a stakeholder engagement in Takoradi  on the Safe Sea Access Framework , the chief fisherman of Lower Dixcove.  Nana Kofi Bentil expressed uneasiness on how the framework is not capturing the welfare of the livelihood of fisherfolks.
The Represen of the Jubilee Partners at th Stakeholder engagement, Samuel Kwakye Marfo  ; who is also the community liaison fishing officer for  the Sekondi / Takoradi metropolis ,said various stakeholder engagements with the fishermen imploring them adhere by the demarcations for the safety exclusive zones. He charged the fishermen to take pictures of any fishing infractions at sea since most accusations against the jubilee partners are mistaken identity.
The Safe Sea Access Frame work seeks to provide an opportunity to ensure peaceful co existence between fishers and offshore oil and gas companies.
