Sekondi Takoradi came alight during the weekend as thousands thronged the Takoradi Technical University Park (TTU Park) to partake in Empire FM’s Oil City Health Walk 2018.

The event; an exception to the usual health walks drew participation from various public and private entities and encompassed persons from varied age groups and classes.

The 7.5 kilometer walk commenced at the TTU Park and proceeded through some selected principal streets amidst brass band display and music from the hired PA system. The walk subsequently climaxed at the TTU Park and followed by some aerobic display.

It was fun but primarily achieved its target of exposing the usually busy participants to exercises in several forms.

The event’s main sponsor was “RIGWORLD TRAINING CENTRE” with support from other corporate entities.

A Survival Training Manager at RigWorld, John Hogan told that his company sponsored the event mainly because it believes in a healthy working and non-working society. He went further to rhapsodize about the Oil City Health Walk insisting that RigWorld was highly impressed about how everything unfolded.

The Member of Parliament for Takoradi, Hon. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah challenged Empire FM to make the event a monthly affair.

Hon. Okyere Darko-Mensah who also doubles as a deputy Aviation minister encouraged other corporate entities to associate with the programme to ensure its continuous success.

Participants were refreshed by some of the sponsors of the event comprising Nestle Ghana, Mamba Energy Drink, Activa Honey and Awake Purified Drinking Water.

Others sponsors of the Oil City Health Walk 2018 include Ghana Oil Limited (GOIL),; and Marie Stopes Ghana.

The Head of events, sales and marketing at Empire FM, Enoch Asare offered words of appreciation to the sponsors and assured that the events will live beyond this year. He stressed that Empire FM will strive to improve on the success chalked with this year’s event.
