Drama unfolded on Radio 360 this morning when the Chief Executive Officer of Asabea construction Limited launched a blistering attack on the Mayor for the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly Anthony Kobena Kuntsir Sam fondly referred to as K. K Sam for refusing to pay the aforementioned company 1.4 million Ghana Cedis for work done on the Sofokrom articulator terminal project
According to the frustrated road contractor the Sofokrom articulator truck terminal project was sponsored by METKA General Electric; a foreign thermal power subsidiary contractor; and has paid all monies due, to the assembly.
He further revealed that the mayor has decided to pay the over 1.4 million cedis due him in installments even to the extent that sometimes the Mayor pays him two thousand Ghana cedis saying this has stalled work on the Fijai / Effia Nkwanta Hospital by- pass road.
Meanwhile Metro Chief Executive, K.K. Sam in his response on the programme denied the accusations by the CEO of Asabea construction and added that he was protecting the public purse.
According to Mr. Sam, the assembly started paying the contractor before he commenced work but stopped paying after he was alerted by regional urban roads that central government had agreed to pay him.
