The Deputy Minister for Energy in charge of Finance and Infrastructure, has revealed that the Akufo -Addo led government is planning to develop the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis into a modern petroleum production city.
Mr. Joseph Cudjoe is part of government’s delegation to the second trade mission in Stavanger, Norway which commenced from the August 27th and is expected to end on September, 30, 2018; observed that the United States has created Huston as an oil and gas city , Aberdeen in Scotland while the Norwegian government has also created Stavanger into a modern city ; thus are examples Ghana should follow.
He remarked that government will hasten the process to consciously develop Sekondi -Takoradi for oil and gas activities.
Hon Cudjoe said such developments will help attract investors and drive the needed funds into the Western Region in general.
Ghana’s Petroleum Commission is participating in the third biggest Oil and Gas conference in the world under the aegis of Aker Energy and the Norwegian Energy Partners , in which over forty registered indigenous Ghanaian small and medium enterprise and setups oil and gas service providers are also participating.
When asked by Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene -Gyan who is covering the conference in Stavanger,Norway ; on the relocation of the Ghana National Petroleum Company headquarters to the Western Region as promised by the then opposition leader now President of Ghana, the minister said residents who frequently use the Takoradi STC road known as Axim road can visibly see the GNPC Foundation office. He further explained to Ohene -Gyan that he has recently been briefed that five sites were available for the construction of the Operational Head Office of GNPC with the “old Secko” site being considered for development.
