Ghana winger Christian Atsu says he is putting in shifts to win back a spot in the starting eleven of Newcastle United after being left on the periphery at the start of the season.
Atsu has been limited to bit part roles and is yet to start a single premier league game for the Magpies.
The winger admits he is not discouraged by the situation but will keep working hard to impress manager Rafael Benitez. Atsu also admits he is eager to prove a point when given the chance to.
“Yeah, I am working hard, everything depends on me so, I just need to give more to work hard and also help assist and score more goals whenever I have the chance so that I can be able to secure my place in the team”, He said.
Newcastle United have had a rocky start to the Premier League with just a point after 4 games. This has left them in bad standing on the league log but Atsu concedes the fixture schedule has not been favorable.
He said “I believe we’ve had a slow start because of the draw that we’ve had. We’ve played with Tottenham, we play with Cardiff away, and then we play with Chelsea, Man City and after the international break we are going to play with Arsena, so you see we have a very difficult job”.
Atsu is however upbeat that Newcastle will wither the storm and improve on their form. “I believe we are going to go through it and then we want to improve and make sure we stay in the league”, he assured.
