This weekend saw creative artistes in the Western and Central Regions converge at Takoradi SSNIT Conference room on Saturday 26th August 2017 to share frustrations, learn more about their industry and device solutions on how to better improve their craft and compete favourably with others from other regions and elsewhere.
Exceeding the 4-hour stipulated time, The Creative Arts Seminar got participants stuck in their seats as speakers engaged them in riveting conversations. From the CEO of AdFocus – Ralph Menz, Highlife Musician and Entrepreneur – Paulina Oduro to Lawyer Fiifi Buckman, Director of Communications and Special Projects at MUSIGA – Daddy Bosco to Highlife Legend and Board Member of MUSIGA – Bessa Simons, there was never a dull moment during the program. This resulted in participants calling for a day to be set for the 2nd edition.
Speaking on Videography, Mr. Ralph Menz advised that being a good cinematographer doesn’t necessarily mean taking spotless pictures, nice Videos with quality background but rather those in the Cinematography business should take pictures and videos which tells a story and it should be real
Madam Paulina Oduro took participants through Professionalism and talent grooming where she adviced particpants to embrace new development in their field and add a little flavour to what they do. She advised participant to study harder to better their profession and not to forget where they are coming from because that is their home.
It was quite an excitement when Lawyer Fiifi Buckman took his turn to talk to participants about understanding the terms of a contract and how to draft a simple legal document. Questions bothering on ‘how binding is a verbal agreement’, what to look out for in a contract to the steps to take when a contract is breeched were asked by participants. Some local artists shared experiences of signing the wrong contracts and the implications they faced.
The PRO of MUSIGA talked about the structure and state of affairs of MUSIGA. Participants expressed disappointments in the works of MUSIGA in other parts of the country. It was a shared belief that MUSIGA is largely focused in Accra, making other musicians in other parts of the country feeling detached and less interested in joining the association.
It was quite shocking to both the Acting President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons and Daddy Bosco when no one could mention the name of MUSIGA’s Western regional Chairman, Mr. Atubiga, Bessa Simons also advised the artistes to make quality and sensible music that will transcend generations and also ensure that their initiatives are protected by registering with the right organisation for example Musiga, Ghamro etc to protect their song and attract money.
As Acting MUSIGA President over the weekend, Bessa Simons took the opportunity to call out to musicians in the Western region to help strengthen the branch of MUSIGA in the region. He revealed various plans of the association to improve music in the region.
The Program witnessed exciting and awesome perfomances from the lifes Qwesi Flex Snow B and Ekua Sekyerewaa Ampa
Seminar ended with Bessa Simon’s presentation after which the team(Fante Revolution) was introduce to the audience who were meet with wonderful and uncontrollable applause.
