Over 545 cases were lodged against the Electricity Company here in the western region by customers in the year 2017.
According to a document intercepted by Empire News’ Emmauel Ohene Gyan the western region’s office of the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) received a total of 577 complaints and resolved 565. Out of the total, the ECG had 545 while the Ghana Water Company had 32cases.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission resolved 537 out of 545 cases lodged against the ECG while it also resolved all the 32 cases against Ghana Water Company.
According to the documents, complaints against the country’s power supplier shot up by two percent from 2016, while Ghana Water had a decrease. In all the complaints against ECG, bordered on credit adjustment where customers complained about high bills which were valued at over (150,000); one hundred and fifty thousand cedis.
When Empire News contacted the regional manager for the PURC, Leon Acquaye for more details, he declined to comment on the story.
